Donya's Story

Donya and her family from Hamilton were able to enjoy some much needed time to refresh their minds and souls at the Family Retreat in Forster in January.

“We had such a dreadful year in 2018 with our daughter Arista in hospital, really sick for a number of weeks.” Being able to take a break and holiday together as a family at the Family Retreat has helped their family to relax, reenergise and connect as a family.

Arista is their little warrior, fighting so hard to stay well after spending so much time in hospital.  It’s not just Arista that spent so much time at the hospital, the whole family were there by her side. The family were also able to take advantage of the Family Room.

“We used the Family Room in the John Hunter Children’s Hospital.  We were able to go there to have some time together as a family and have a cup of tea together. The volunteers and staff are so lovely. Their kindness helped us to continue stronger as parents.
